Antipodes Manuka Honey Skin-Brightening Range - #RivetReview

Antipodes Skincare, hailing from New Zealand, offers nature inspired beauty products to target and treat concerns at a cellular level with the patented Vinanza Performance Plus antioxidant blend from Vinanza Grapes and Kiwi. This brand prides itself on its holistic approach that is backed up by science; a balanced approach to being effective and eco-conscious.

Having tried other products from Antipodes with great results, including the very active Apostle Brightening Serum, and Grape Seed Butter Cleanser, I was very excited when I was invited to the launch of the brand new Manuka Honey Skin-Brightening range including the Light Day Cream with Bee Venom# and Vinanza Grape and Kiwi, and the Eye Cream with Persian Silk Flower.

Manuka Honey, the hero of this line, is favoured by many for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, even though all honey does have a good defense mechanism against bacteria and helps reduce inflamation. Bees collect nectar from the Manuka Tree, native to Australia and New Zealand, and create the earthy honey that is used in these two products. The Skin-Brightening range was formulated with the Asian market* in mind, who seek a fair and bright complexion.

"Liquid Gold for your brightest skin ever"

Light Day Cream - $65AUD
This super lightweight moisturiser smells like chocolate and honey and claims to brighten skin and reduce pigmentation whilst also tackling fine lines. Avocado and Olive oils high up on the ingredients list, and towards the middle, Chia and Kiwiseed, provide fatty acids to soften and lubricate the skin. Active ingredients Argireline (Acetyl Hexapeptide-3), Arbutin and Hyaluronic Acid offer a botox-like tightening effect, pigment minimization via tyrosinase inhibition, and deep hydration, respectively. Bee Venom (Apitoxin) is the star of the show as a collagen stimulating and skin tightening agent, and Vinanza Performance Plus offers its array of antioxidants that help prevent free radical damage.

Thoughts?
This cream itself is designed for a normal to oily skin, which I can get away with during the summer months, however, I really need to add more oil-based products on top of it so my face doesn't feel like it is being stretched beyond its means (usually a sun protection product will do the trick), and I tend to use this moisturiser more at night and layer it with a face oil because of my dryness. My skin feels really soft and glows after use, however, being not very dry skin friendly, I don't feel that it's doing much for me, personally, on its own.

Eye Cream - $60AUD
A decadent treat for the delicate skin around the eye area, another burst of chocolate and honey goodness, with a tea-like overtone. Avocado and Jojoba oils and Capuacu Butter give a thick texture to this eye cream, but melts into the skin to create a barrier. Persian Silk Flower and Vinanza Grape and Kiwi assist in brightening the skin around the eyes, along with Retinol (Vitamin A), which helps speed up cell renewal and aids in improving texture.

Thoughts?
I really love this eye cream. It's very rich in texture, which is what is needed in my eye area. I think it could do without the Retinol and be marketed towards dry skin (again, it does have oilier skin in mind, however, I believe the ingredients cater well to my dryness). I really like this eye cream for its texture. I have been a bit lazy with eye cream lately, however, upon using this for a few days in a row, I did notice the skin around my eyes to be brighter.

The Antipodes Manuka Honey Skin-Brightening range is available from http://www.antipodesnature.com/

*Whilst Antipodes does sell to the Chinese market via eCommerce/B2C models, the brand is not distributed and sold in brick & mortar retail stores within mainland China, therefore bypassing mandatory animal testing laws and retaining cruelty free status.

#Although the brand is cruelty free and approved by the Vegetarian Society, not all products are vegan. Bee venom is harvested without harm to bees.

These products were supplied a PR sample, my thoughts are honest.
